It’s very difficult to get close enough to an enemy to hit them without them hitting you first, especially later when enemies get rushing attacks and ranged attacks, and adding a sword or a lead pipe to your arsenal makes a tremendous difference. Most important are the weapons, which enemies will sometimes drop, as this adds reach to your attack. If you get close to an enemy, you can throw them behind you, which is fun, but later in the game more and more enemies will simply throw you instead, so this becomes less useful. You can also do a super in the air by pressing Button 2 twice, and can do a screen-clearing “devastation” move (which takes away about 60% of your health) by jumping first then pressing both buttons together. Regardless of who you play as, Button 1 does a basic attack combo, Button 2 jumps, and both together are a super move that also costs a bit of your own health. Yes Tory Swift is a little bit faster, but never as fast as any of the enemies, and even the (slightly) slower Rack Saxxon can still jump kick lithely across the screen, same as the other two. All of their move sets are identical (except for their super moves, and that’s purely a visual change), and the differences in their strength and speed are marginal at best. The developers don’t really do enough to distinguish between the three characters. They don’t call this game studio “Animation Magic” for nothing
